Open the Contro Panel on your computer to find the CommPort the PinPad device is currently connected to. This step is different, depending on which Windows operating system you are currently using. With Windows 8 and Windows 10, you can hit the start button and begin typing “Control Panel.” With Windows 7 or older, click “Start” in the lower left corner, and select “Control Panel.”
Once you open the Control Panel, click “Hardware and Sound”. Then click “Device Manager.” (With Windows 7, you may see Device Manager as an option initially instead of going to “Hardware and Sound.”) Once opened, expand the section titled “Ports”
To get the correct Port number, right click on the line item Ingenico iPP3xx/iPP4xx Comm Port (Or if utilizing the E3 Device, PP790SE) and select “Properties” to open the properties dialogue.
Next, select the “Port Settings” tab, and then click “Advanced.” Here you will see the advanced settings dialogue.
This dialogue will have the COMP port in the dropdown at the bottom of the dialogue box, and in the title. (In this example, you can see it is COM 5)
In the Cashiering application, go to the Configuration Tab>Customize Application. Click PinPad Settings.
From here, specify your PinPad Type and the COM Port the device is using. Click Submit and then Save Changes.
